Why my treo650 re-sends me old deleted emails? how stop this irritation?!?

I select email, touch versamail, under message menu, pick delete, check the box for also delete from server, ok. This is the proceedure the book says to do. Yet every a.m. promptly at 5 I receive 3 to 15old emails from last month or 2. Grrrr. Getting live sprint person to help is impossible! I have also tried "empty trash". Someone told me I have to go to my sprint site on line to tell it what to drop. Really?? I have never set up a sprint site for my treo, why should I have to?? The delete options are on the PHONE. I love my treo for numerous other reasons, but I have to leave ringer on silent all night, or else get the 5 a.m. "wake up call" when my NOT new mssgs arrive!! Its makin me crazy! HELP!
